It wouldn’t normally be news that a show’s cast member had taken the stage to perform, but Marcia Hines is a special case.
The American-born Australian powerhouse performed her role as Teen Angel on opening night – and earlier in the day at a media call (pictured) – just over one week after she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Hines, 70, collapsed in her dressing room hours before filming for Australian Idol‘s first grand final episode on March 25 was set to begin, with a production source telling East Coast media: “Marcia had a medical emergency and was rushed to hospital.”
Guy Sebastian filled in for Hines, who later took to social media to tell her followers she had been feeling “a little unwell”.
”I’m very sorry that I’m not there with you all tonight,” she said on Instagram.
“It’s been a big few days of work and I was feeling a little unwell. I’m resting up now so I can be back with you all tomorrow night.”
Hines later said she had a Urinary Tract Infection, which in adults can cause low blood pressure, which can spark fainting, weakness or dizziness.
