Lauryn Hill cancels another show on her 25th anniversary tour hours before start time

Lauryn Hill has postponed another show on her anniversary tour, this time in Texas, due to an ongoing health issue.

The American rapper and singer, 48, known as the frontwoman of The Fugees, revealed she is suffering from a “serious case of vocal strain/injury” and can “barely talk, let alone sing or rap”.

Hill said she is preparing to “heal and rest” on doctor’s orders so she can carry on with her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, hours before she was set to take to the stage on Tuesday.

“I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

Last week, she cancelled a show in Philadelphia to “rest her voice”.

“It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show tomorrow. I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords,” she said in a statement shared on her social media accounts before her show on October 23.

She added in her post: “The start of this tour has been incredible. What an amazing experience to celebrate this anniversary with all of my family, my friends and all of you.”
