The show took calls all morning to ask Swifties what important events they are committed to leaving behind in the dust.

One caller said she would miss her cousin’s wedding, which she had agreed to be the hairdresser for, however, the winner of the tickets was willing to forgo something much more important.

Khiara from Adelaide admitted, “I am willing to miss my auntie’s funeral to go see Taylor Swift.”

Her aunt’s funeral was set to be at 1pm in Adelaide tomorrow, with the concert happening on the same day in Melbourne at 6:20pm.

The caller added some context as to how she predicted her family would react, “We are a very big family, we are all very close.”

“I’m a really big Swiftie, I would do anything, well clearly if I am missing a funeral. The body is being flown from Queensland, it’s a really big deal, there is going to be so many family members there, and I am willing to upset everyone to go.”

She continued, “In a respectful way, this is a once in [a] lifetime [opportunity] to see Taylor Swift.”

Before the radio hosts felt comfortable giving Khiara the tickets, they told her she would have to receive her mum Jodie’s blessing to miss the funeral.

The show then called Jodie to see if they could all convince her to let her daughter give the funeral a miss to see her idol perform live.

“Yeah, but Khiara, it’s my sister’s funeral, what do you mean?” was Jodie’s first reaction to the question.

She added, “You’re gonna be shamed forever,” before Khiara pleaded her case, “I’ve had memories and I’ve said goodbye, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Continuing to sell how badly she wanted to see the Era’s Tour live and in concert, Khiara said: “I’ll take the blame for Tay Tay.”

The story continued to unfold, with Khiara asking her mother, who had the role of a pallbearer, if she too would miss the event to babysit her one-year-old.

Jodie reluctantly agreed to give Khiara her blessing, but she wasn’t overly optimistic about it.

“Yeah, yeah well I’ll just have to deal with this, won’t I? That’s ok I’m not going to take it away from my daughter, but I’m disappointed, it’s very bittersweet.”
